TVS Boxing Network plans to fill HBO and Showtime boxing void with two new boxing series from New Mexico in 2024
TVS Television Network began its championship boxing coverage in the 1970's with coverage of the Joe Frazier vs Ron Stander fight. It continued in the 1980's with fights from the Sands Casino, Atlantis Casino, Playboy Casino, and Golden Nugget Casino in Atlantic City, as well as with a series of fights from Houston.
With the demise of HBO Boxing and now Showtime Boxing, TVS will ramp up it's efforts with the 'A Ring of THeir Own' boxing series featuring women fighters, and 'Boxing Illustrated Future Stars' , a series that will showcase up and coming boxers beginning their pro careers. Both series will be held in New Mexico, with details to be announced in early 2024.
For boxing and TV historians, the "Future Stars' series was the very first boxing series ever covered on broadcast TV.... by NBC in 1948.
The two boxing series will set the stagefor a return to championship boxing specials on the TVS Television Network in 2024, filling the showtime and HBO void of such quality fights.
